Country singer, guitarist and songwriter Dan McCorison will be the guest guitarist in the “Songs of the South” spring concert presented by the Westernaires Chorus of Sun City West April 5-8 at the Stardust Theater, 14401 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd.

After college, McCorison, a Denver native, started his first country band — Dusty Drapes and the Dusters — which opened for headliners like Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Flatt & Scruggs, Linda Ronstadt and others. He then released his first album in Los Angeles, produced by Chris Hillman of the Byrds and featuring musicians performing with Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band and the Eagles.

Relocating to Nashville, McCorison continued to write, record and perform with a variety of country music writers and musicians. He has since performed across the United States and in Japan, Australia and Europe.

McCorison’s most recent awards include 2017 Album of the Year (“Montana Moon”) by the Academy of Western Artists and both 2021 Songwriter of the Year and Traditional Western Album of the Year (“Me and Les”) by the International Western Music Association.

McCorison, his wife June and dog Daisy reside in Surprise.
