    Governor Sesantis wrote on X:

“Dei is toxic and has no place in our public universities. I’m glad that Florida was the first state to eliminate DEI and I hope more states follow suit.”

The terminations will free up about $5 million dollars which will be allocated to faculty recruitment. The implementation of the law, however, According to Representative Yvonne Hayes-Hinson, stated Hayes-Hinson, will hurt the education system.

“This Desantis era that we have is not only going to drive off those 13 staff members away, we are losing the brightest, the best and the brightest college professors.”
