New Yorkers should be sure to bring an umbrella for the next few days

The National Weather Service has issued a rain prediction for the city and the surrounding areas through Thursday, predicting a continuous downpour with the possibility of flash floods in certain areas during heavy rains on Wednesday night.

According to meteorologist Dominic Ramunni, "We are talking about a couple of inches of rain when all is said and done," referring to a substantial quantity that was spread out over a short time.

Ramunni cautioned that urban flooding might develop in poor drainage areas, particularly on Wednesday night when the rain would be falling heavily, even if the NWS has not issued any advisories while the low pressure system moves through.

So take your Umbrella out because rain wont stop for next 3/4 days.

"Take it easy if you have to go out in the rain... particularly if you're traveling that evening on Wednesday," Ramunni said.

The prognosis indicates that there will be no chance of freezing or snow since temperatures will be much higher than usual in the fifty degrees.

On Thursday and Friday, the rain should subside, but only temporarily: Over the weekend, we should have yet another wave of precipitation.

Despite the gloomy prognosis for this week, there is cause for optimism that brighter days are on the horizon, as the old March saying goes.
