Although the weather was cool on the outside, the temperature quickly heated on the inside of the gym at East Wilkes High School on Friday evening, February 23 as the regular season for basketball ended with the 1A Northwest Tournament finals. A close game that delivered lots of excitement and suspense had just ended with the host team, the Lady Cardinals of East Wilkes, declaring victory and claiming both the regular season and the tournament championships. At the close of the game 2023-24 All-Conference honors were awarded. All-Conference honorees are nominated by their own coaches and voted on by the league coaches, purportedly according to statistics submitted. A coach may not vote for their own player. Inexplicably, it was a year where some of the lower ranked teams were granted more honors than some of the higher ranked teams.

Alleghany High School: Sarah Bare and Paula Martinez

East Wilkes High School: Lauren Macemore and Bailey Stanley
