New California Bill Could Draw Migrants There Instead of Texas

California has been very progressive in helping migrants get settled in the State. A new bill could attract more migrants to the West Coast.

Now California wants to help migrants buy a new home. California Bill AB 1840 allows undocumented immigrants to buy a home under the first-time homebuyers program.

California is already seeing more migrants cross its border as Texas has seen a reduction based on Governor Greg Abbott's border policies.

Since President Joe Biden came into office, Governor Abbott has deployed the Texas National Guard and used the Department of Public Safety to arrest illegal immigrants crossing the southern border under Operation Lone Star.

Operation Lone Star has apprehended 502,500 illegal immigrants, has made more than 40,100 criminal arrests, and Texas law enforcement has seized over 468 million lethal doses of fentanyl according to a press release.

In addition, Governor Abbott has sent over 100,00 migrants to sanctuary cities:

• Over 12,500 migrants to Washington, D.C. since April 2022
• Over 38,600 migrants to New York City since August 2022
• Over 31,800 migrants to Chicago since August 2022
• Over 3,400 migrants to Philadelphia since November 2022
• Over 16,400 migrants to Denver since May 18
• Over 1,500 migrants to Los Angeles since June 14

In addition, Governor Abbott started rebuilding the border wall that was started under the Trump administration according to The New York Post.

The actions of Governor Abbott have forced migrants to cross the borders of California according to CBS News.

Recently, California announced providing $3.1 billion in free healthcare to illegal immigrants in one of its latest bills according to The Daily Mail.
