Marinette's Sommerfeldt collects First Team All-NEC honors

MARINETTE — Marinette’s Sam Sommerfeldt collected All-North Eastern Conference First Team honors, as the NEC released its All-Conference selections on Thursday.

Sommerfeldt, a senior, was Marinette’s leading scorer at 16 points per game, sixth-best in the NEC, and averaged 4.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.8 turnovers per game.

Sommerfeldt was the lone Marine to garner All-Conference recognition by the coaches of the NEC.

Adam Loberger of Fox Valley Lutheran took home Player of the Year for the second straight year and was a unanimous First Team choice after averaging 22.3 points and 8.9 boards per game.

Loberger’s teammate Sam Ferge also received unanimous First Team honors, as did Clintonville’s Jack Yaeger, Waupaca’s Riley Bechard and Freedom’s Donavan Davis.

Freedom’s Ashton Peterson rounded out the first team.

Sam Wegener (Clintonville), Henry Mouw (Waupaca), Drew Kortz (Freedom), Grant Hermus (Little Chute), Jack Dewar (Denmark) and Ethan Cyra (Wrightstown) comprise the Second Team.
