The 49ers have extended starting right tackle Colton McKivitz with a one-year deal, his agent announced Friday morning. While McKivitz was already under contract for 2024, this keeps him as a 49er until 2025.

His agency announced the deal on Twitter , reporting it as a one-year, $7 million extension with 65 percent fully guaranteed. He was set to enter the year with a $3.64 million cap hit.

McKivitz was given a 65.2 grade by Pro Football Focus on the year, ranking him 48th out of 85 qualified tackles, eight spots behind Mike McGlinchey. His 66.3 run blocking grade was 36th, while his 58.3 pass blocking grade ranked 57th.

While Pro Football Focus is not the end-all-be-all of football evaluation, it does provide a somewhat useful context for offensive linemen, who lack concrete statistics to be evaluated by.

This is not a deal which precludes the 49ers from drafting a tackle in the draft, but ensures they have a flexible option going into 2025.
