After teasing fans last week that a cover of Britney Spears ' turn of the century Pop smash "...Baby One More Time" was on the way, Tenacious D ( Jack Black and Kyle Gass ) have made good with a full music video to go along with the track.

The D's cover is included as the final song on Universal Studios' Kung Fu Panda 4 soundtrack, which mainly features compositions by Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro . Within the music video -- filmed on the red carpet at KFP4 's Los Angeles premiere -- Jack, who stars in the animated flick and his pal Kyle dance around the premiere while interacting with some of the film's other stars, including James Hong , Bryan Cranston , Awkwafina , Ke Huy Quan , and Dustin Hoffman .

Black tells The Hollywood Reporter that the cover came about quickly after the film's director, Mike Mitchell , asked him for a song to include in the end credits. "I was like, ‘Really? Can we do Britney Spears?’ He said, yeah, and he said, ‘Let’s do 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' for the kung fu aspect of that song,’" Jack explained. "We were like, ‘Hell yeah.'”

Back in 2022, The D, known just as well for their hilariously epic cover songs as they are for their original bangers, told us that they had an entire album of other people's songs ready to go, all recorded "over the course of the pandemic times."

"We had a plan to put out an album of covers, 'The Covers Album.' But after we had recorded like 18 covers of different songs that we love, that we did like a funny version of them, our lawyer was like, 'Oh no, you can't put out this album, this album is a lawsuit waiting to happen,'" Black told us during an Audacy Check In . "You have to have permission from all of these artists because we changed the songs a little bit, but they're not changed enough to be called parodies. It's so much legal red tape."

Luckily, Black and Gass were given the green light on this Pop classic above, as well as their two previous cover releases -- The Beatles ' "You Never Give Me Your Money," and their medley of classics by The Who -- both recorded as charity singles.
