    Deputy Sheriff Strikes Cyclist at 96 mph/ No Charges

    A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy accused of driving double the speed limit when he crashed into a cyclist will face no charges after a Florida Highway Patrol investigation.

    MCSO Deputy Brandon Jaglal received a traffic citation for “failure to use due care”. There are no criminal charges against him, and no mention of a speeding ticket. The accident was investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol.

    He whas traveling on State Road 200 at about 3 o'clock in the morning, when he struck a 63 year old bicyclist near a retirement community called On Top of The World. The cyclist was wearing no reflective clothing and had no lights.

    The speed limit in that area is 50 mph, the deputy, who was driving a patrol vehicle was doing 96 mph, but was not on a call. There was also no street lighting in the area.

    Deputy Jaglal is on desk duty pending an internal affairs investigation.
