Felicia Moorehead recently joined the UT Extension Office 4-H team on March 1.

Moorehead has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a master’s degree in elementary curriculum from Tusculum University. She taught elementary school for 31 years — most recently at Snow Hill Elementary in Hamilton County, Tenn.

She was awarded Teacher of the Year 5 times in both Cleveland City and Hamilton County Schools.

“Felicia has a true passion for working with youth,” local 4-H officials said.

Her husband, Tony, is the Children and Youth Director at Birchwood Baptist Church. Some of her youth development experience outside of teaching school include working with children and youth in church programs, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Day Camp, Sunday School and Children’s Church. Felicia ran a summer tutoring camp for the Birchwood, Tenn., community and has tutored a number of students in math and reading over the past three decades. Her skills also include planning and organizing events.

“It is my belief that building healthy relationships with students and creating a safe learning environment is the foundation for success,” Moorehead said. “As a teacher, I have the opportunity to help students believe in themselves and their ability to learn. It is a privilege to be an integral part of shaping the leaders of tomorrow.”

In her spare time, Moorehead loves to spend time with her family including game nights and trips to the beach. She enjoys working on remodeling projects, working in the yard and reading for pleasure.
