Akemi Sushi , a new all-you-can-eat sushi concept, is coming to Roseville. The new restaurant will take over the former space of Maneki, a high-end sushi restaurant that closed last fall. The new restaurant is anticipated to open in April . This news was first reported by Sacramento Business Journal .

The names behind the upcoming Akemi Sushi are familiar. Jason Li and Wenghui Zheng , the father-and-son duo, are seasoned franchise operators. What Now Sacramento last reported Li’s new venture as a franchisee for the popular Korean fried chicken chain Hangry Joe’s. The pair also operates the Folsom Boulevard Taichi Bubble Tea in Sacramento and the Mr. Crab Seafood Grill & Bar restaurant in Natomas.

Akemi’s AYCE will include all the crowd favorites, from classic makis and nigiri to hibachi plates and appetizers, as well as a tempting AYCE sashimi offering. Li told the Business Journal : “We are planning to bring the highest quality of sushi but at an affordable price, plus we will offer all you can eat, which is a popular concept. We’ll have options for everyone.”

The Business Journal article also mentioned that the operators plan on serving beer, wine, and sake for now. However, no related license applications or pending licenses can be found for Akemi Sushi or its upcoming site at 1902 Taylor Road in the Alcohol Beverage Control database.

What Now Sacramento reached out to Jason Li but had not received any comments back.
