Washington State Legislature Passes Bills on LGBTQ+ Education, Gun Reporting, and Worker IRAs

A couple of Washington State Bills are on their way to being signed by Jay Inslee.

LGBTQ+ Community Education

Public schools in Washington will now be required to teach lessons on the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community and their perspectives. The Attorney General's Office is also creating a hate crime hotline to address LGBTQ+ community concerns.

Gun Owner Responsibilities

Gun owners in Washington will now be fined $1,000 if they fail to report their missing or stolen guns within 24 hours. This new bill aims to enhance gun safety and accountability among gun owners.

IRA for Workers

Additionally, a Washington bill is being proposed to create an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) for workers who do not have access to a 401k through their employer, providing more financial security for employees.

Ummmm, no? We DESPERATELY need school choice, asap. If I could afford the 8k yearly tuition my son would be private schooled right now. This is NOT okay, especially when the state DEMANDS attendance or they'll take your kid. I'm about to throw fists with his teacher already calling my 8yo autistic kid racist for asking for the "regular skin color crayon" while he was coloring. 😡
