The Dallas (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated (The Links), has announced its plans for the upcoming 2024 Women Who STEAM Awards Luncheon, to be held on April 4, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Warwick Melrose. Presented by Texas Capital, the 5th annual awards luncheon, themed “Kaleidoscope: Illuminating Women and their Diverse Paths to STEAM Success”, will recognize 7 outstanding women in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics who exemplify contributions in their fields while also Serving, Teaching, Excelling, Aspiring, and Mentoring within their respective workplaces and communities. The highly anticipated ceremony will feature a seated lunch and program, raffle for luxury prizes and experiences, and musical performance by Dallas-based musician and violinist, Clover.

Leading the efforts for the 2024 Women Who STEAM Awards Luncheon are Event Co-Chairs Lisa Sherrod, AVP of External and Legislative Affairs for AT&T; Beverly Waters, Global HR Operations Director for PepsiCo.; Effie Dennison, Managing Director, Head of Community Development and Corporate Social Responsibility for Texas Capital; and Linda McIntosh Todd, President of the Dallas (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. “We are proud of our community partners, corporate sponsors, and members of The Links, Incorporated, who continue to support our Women Who STEAM Awards Luncheon,” Waters said. “Fundraising efforts from this event enable us to run programming for our Dallas Links STEAM Academy which focuses on STEAM education and career readiness for 7th -12th grade girls of color.”
THE EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON STEAM ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIPS
The 2024 Awards Luncheon is the inaugural year for the granting of the Eddie Bernice Johnson STEAM Academy Scholarships, which was officially established in 2023. The Eddie Bernice Johnson STEAM Academy Scholarships are presented to deserving STEAM Academy Senior Scholars, and serve as a legacy and tribute to The Honorable Eddie Bernice Johnson for her service as the first African American and first woman Chair of the House for the Space, Science and Technology Committee. The award is also a demonstration of her dedication to the success of the Dallas Links STEAM Academy.
“Congresswoman Johnson was a dedicated member of the Dallas (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated for over four decades,” said Women Who STEAM Co-Chair Lisa Sherrod. “She used her platform to encourage young people to explore STEM education and to ultimately choose careers in this field. Whether it was climate, research, or space exploration — she always championed innovation. The Eddie Bernice Johnson Scholarships keep her legacy alive and fulfilled through our STEAM Academy Scholars, as they learn and pursue professions that meet the needs of our future.”

Proceeds from the luncheon (including the raffle) directly support the STEAM Academy, community programs, and also helps to provide scholarships to college-bound students.
