As we get closer to the March 15 release date, Justin Timberlake is revealing more and more about his sixth studio album. Set to be his first full LP release since Man of The Woods in 2018, Everything I Thought I Was has been generating some serious buzz with fans. The single “Selfish” broke into the charts at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 , which instantly made it Timberlake’s biggest charting hit in six years.

Yet, the album is still barely out of reach. From the album trailer to the singer posting about “EITIW” since early January , Timberlake has been keeping everyone waiting - all while giving out just enough hints to keep fans intrigued. He’s even posted snippets of unreleased songs on his Instagram, going track by track and day by day. “The album is on repeat and we don’t even have it yet” one fan joked , with another commenting , “JT dropping these teases so casually as if every single one of them aren’t major bops.”

All the hints make it seem like Timberlake is working with an endless supply of music, which is partially how the album was written. “I worked for a long time on this album and I ended up with 100 songs, so narrowing them down to 18 was a thing,” he told Zane Lowe of Apple Music . “I’m really excited about this album. I think every artist probably says this, but it is my best work.”

The titles of those "best works" were revealed on a Spotify billboard in Los Angeles just last week. This includes a collaboration with *NSYNC on the song “Paradise”, previously released singles, and some titles with personal significance to Timberlake, such as his hometown of “Memphis.”

“I think there are moments that are incredibly honest, but also, there’s a lot of f***ing fun on this album,” he told Apple Music.

Justin’s longtime collaborator and producer Timbaland fully agrees, telling Variety in 2023 that the singer has truly come “back to the essence” of his own style. “It’s fun Justin — it’s like 'FutureSex /LoveSounds' but nothing too heavy, just giving you what you’d expect from us,” he explained, adding that it’s, “not overthought, the lyrics are not so deep, it’s bob-your-head, dance-to-it music. Music is a young sport, and you have to keep it fun — fun and young.”

From what we can hear of the album, this sense of fun comes directly from the musician’s style of Pop and splash of techno-funk elements. The heavy midi and a sharp focus on beats and bass throughout each clip is undeniably catchy, almost irresistible. Yet the album is still balanced with a range of moods, such as the club-focused “No Angels”, the melodic dance within “Imagination”, the power behind “Sanctified” and easy, slow listening with songs “Love and War” and “Flame”. Across all those different tracks, Timberlake can be heard in his classic falsetto style, with his lyrics both rhyming and fitting the rhythm.

If all that wasn’t enough for you, Timberlake has also already announced the supporting tour, merchandise and exclusive edition vinyls. The “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” begins with a North American leg in April, and will see the star traveling from big cities like Las Vegas and Chicago, to Louisville, Kentucky. And though the presale already began, tickets are available now - along with t-shirts, fan bundles, and a special edition of the album via Justin’s online shop.

So, with that, are you ready? Everything I Thought I Was drops this Friday. Check out Audacy’s Justin Timberlake Radio on the free Audacy app for more!
