Louisiana Festivals & Events Happening this Weekend: March 14 through March 17

It's daylight savings time, and that means we have longer afternoons to enjoy festivals. St. Patrick's Day is Sunday, so there are parades to attend this weekend.
New Orleans Book Festival - March 14, 15, 16

Tulane University hosts the third annual New Orleans Book Festival. Free and open to the public, the festival brings the world's leading authors to the uptown campus for a multi-day celebration aimed at book lovers of all ages.
Celtic Bayou Festival - Lafayette - March 15 & 16
407 Lee Avenue
The family-friendly Celtic Bayou Festival is held annually in March to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the heart of Cajun Country. Festival-goers will be treated to traditional and modern Celtic music, a lenten crawfish boil, whiskey tasting, Celtic vendors, and much more.
A pub crawl happens Friday evening at 5:00 PM with patrons meeting at The Hideaway on Lee, followed by a pre-festival kickoff party at The Hideaway at 8:00 PM. Musicians from Ireland, Scotland, France, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, and Carolina will take the stages at Warehouse 535 beginning at 12:00 PM on Saturday.

Friday Pub Crawl - $25
Pre-Party Admission after 8:00 PM - $10
Saturday Festival Admission - $25 at the door ($20 presale)
Weekend Special - $40 (includes pub crawl, pre-party, and festival)
Tickets are $5 for children 7 to 12, with those under 6 admitted free. The children's area will only be open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday.
Iowa Rabbit Festival - Lake Charles - March 15 & 16
7001 Gulf Highway
Held in the Burton Coliseum, the Iowa Rabbit Festival features entertainment, a rabbit cookoff, a rabbit show, food, crafts, and a carnival.

Friday night admission is $10; free for kids 12 and under.

Amite Oyster Festival - Amite - March 15, 16, 17

The Amite Oyster Festival is three days of food, music, rides, a chili cookoff, a parade, and lots of fun. Entertainment highlights include Chee Weez, Ryan Foret, Kenny Acosta and the Geauxphonics, Stormy Band, and more.
Festival hours are:
Friday 5:00 PM to midnight
Saturday 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Sunday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Festival entry is free
Audubon Arts & Nature Fest - St. Francisville - March 16

From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, visitors can explore the natural side of the Audubon State Historic Site while watching arts and period craft demonstrations at the Audubon Arts & Nature Fest. Admission charged.
Wearin' of the Green Parade - Baton Rouge - March 16
The 39th annual Wearin' of the Green Parade begins at 10:00 AM on Hundred Oaks behind the Catholic Life Center and rolls down the street taking a right onto Eugene Street and then a left of Terrace Blvd. It turns left on Perkins Road, goes over the overpass, and ends at the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Perkins Road.
Basketball legend Simone Augustus is this year's Grand Marshal.
St. Patrick's Day Metairie Road Parade - Metairie - March 17
Founded in 1971, this family-friendly parade in Old Metairie features over 100 floats, marching clubs, bands, trucks, and throws. Considered one of the top ten best and largest St. Patrick's Day parades in the United States, it begins at noon at 41st Street and Severn, travels south down Servern, and takes a left onto Metairie Road. The parade turns left onto Focis Street and disbands at Canal Street.
Irish Italian Parade - Houma - March 17
The Terrebonne Parish Irish Italian parade begins at 1:00 PM on the corner of Westside Boulevard and West Park Avenue, by Cannata's, and ends at Town Hall. Bring your umbrellas and nets because fresh vegetables don't last on floats and this parade rolls rain or shine.
