The Utah Avalanche Center (UAC) is an important organization in the Utah recreation world. The UAC is an incredible resource for avalanche conditions throughout the snow season and provides daily forecasts, numerous educational resources, classes, and events. Notably, the daily forecasts provided by the UAC are a free and publicly accessible service that people across Utah rely on when making decisions about how and where to travel in the backcountry.

Many of the UAC's community resources are accessed through their website. Currently, the UAC is working to fundraise to rebuild their website platform. This rebuild is vital to ensuring continued access to UAC digital resources.

Here's a breakdown of what different amounts of money can support (from the UAC website ).

    • $15 : Cost to send 1 SMS notification of changing avalanche conditions ( sign up here ).
    • $100 : Cost to publish 2 backcountry observations
    • $250 : One month of daily forecast emails across 8 regions.
    • $500 : Cost to produce 1 forecast, including 8-10 hours of fieldwork and analysis.
    • $1000 : Support our new website design costs. The project is estimated to take 18 months to complete, and you can help us get there.
    • $2500 : Support our new website development costs. The project is estimated to take 18 months to complete, and you can help us get there.

Donate $100+ to support the website rebuild by March 25th and automatically be entered to win a BCA Float E2 25L or Float E2 Turbo 25L airbag pack.

Donations can be made at this link, via venmo (@UtahAvalancheCenter), or via checks mailed to Utah Avalanche Center, PO Box 521353, Salt Lake City, UT 84152-1353.
