Hawaii SB 3335 passed a hearing to advance a bill to legalize recreational marijuana use in Hawaii. Hawaii lawmakers saw many bills during the current legislative session. The bill, whether controversial or not, if passed, will impact many in the islands.

What about the schools in Hawaii?

For example, how will the school address a student in a household whose parents grow and use Marijuana? Many students use and go to school using Marijuana when it is illegal. What will happen when it becomes legal? Many believe marijuana use is the gateway to people using stronger drugs.

Gambling debt, marijuana use, alcohol use in the same household?

It’s a recipe for disaster—proponents of legal marijuana love the prospect of Marijuana being legal in the state.

Many underaged will see that Marijuana is legal for 21 and over, and they too will rationalize that if it’s legal for their parents, it’s legal for them.

How will it also affect the tourist industry?

Many cultures see marijuana use as unacceptable. Will it cause many of the Japanese visitors not to come to Hawaii?

There are more question marks and answers. It would also be a nightmare for law enforcement.

The 2024 Hawaii Legislative session is turning out to be interesting. The decisions made by the lawmakers during the session could have a lasting impact on generations to come.

The prospect of legalizing Marijuana could affect schools, public health, and the tourism industry. Will Marijuana be the first thought visitors think of when they hear the state of Hawaii?
