T.I. Jokes About New Generation Of Trap Rappers Incriminating Themselves In Stand-Up Comedy Set

T.I. is taking a couple of jabs at the new generation of Trap rappers as he jokes about them incriminating themselves during a new stand-up comedy set. The Atlanta rap legend continues to make it known that he’s not just a Trap rapper and entrepreneur, but also a hilarious stand-up comedian.

Last Summer, news first broke that T.I. had been asked to make his TV stand-up debut in Kevin Hart ‘s ‘ Comic View ‘ reboot on BET, just 18 months after the rapper first ventured into the comedy world. As he appears on the revived comedy show, T.I. — who is well-known for sharing his thoughts on the latest Pop Culture and Hip-Hop happenings, politics, and more — is now going viral on social media in a clipped portion of his comedy stand-up set.

In the quick clip, T.I. playfully compares today’s Trap rappers with Trap legends like himself, Atlanta rapper Jeezy , and Memphis rapper Yo Gotti . Setting up his joke, the “Rubber Band Man” states, “Listen, the first generation of trap music — people like me, Jeezy, Yo Gotti — you know what I’m saying? We were rapping about things we had done, got away with, and moved on. You hear me?”

T.I. then continues to hit his punchline and compares the aforementioned Trap legends to the new generation of rappers, whom he claims incriminates themselves in their new songs, He said, “You listen to [this] new age Trap music? Oh, they [are] talking ’bout sh*t they finna do tomorrow, you feel what I’m saying?”

Reacting to T.I.’s commentary, the crowd erupts in laughter, clearly agreeing with every single word he said up on that stage.

However, this isn’t the first time that T.I. has commented about the current state of Hip-Hop and the new generation of rappers, who claims continue to incriminate themselves. Last month, the rapper made some interesting observations about today’s Hip-Hop landscape. He noted that there is a lot of talent out there, but the space in Hip-Hop has also become very overcrowded.

While appearing on Shaquille O’Neal ‘s podcast, ‘ The Big Podcast with Shaq ,’ on February 28, T.I. said, “This generation reminds me of every other generation. You got some people who are exceptionally dope, and some people who are just alright. You know what I mean?”

He continued, “But it’s a lot more of it to choose from now. I feel that, actually, what they’ve done with music is equivalent to if they were to open up the doors of the arena and say, ‘Anybody think you can play basketball? Come on out the stands out here to the floor. Here go you a jersey, man. Get in the game.'”

Later in the interview, T.I. revealed that while he appreciated his rap peers, like Nelly and Usher who are part-owners of basketball teams, he couldn’t see himself investing in a team.

He said, “So many of my contemporaries — like Nelly, you know, he got a piece of Charlotte — and Usher’s got a piece of Cleveland. You know, people be asking me, ‘Would I ever do it?’ And I don’t think I would, you know? Because I just can’t see me taking so much of my money, investing it in something, and I can’t do what the f**k I wanna do. I just can’t imagine that. I’m gonna put my money into something where I can dictate, and I can determine, the way it’s gonna go.”
