    2 Identified in killing. Northwest DC shooting early Sunday morning

    In the early hours of Sunday morning, tragedy struck in Northwest Washington, D.C. as gunfire erupted near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Two lives were lost, and five others were wounded in the senseless violence that unfolded at the intersection of Seventh and P Street NW.

    According to reports from law enforcement officials, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found five individuals suffering from gunshot wounds in the 600 block of P Street NW. All five victims were swiftly transported to local hospitals for urgent medical care, although their current conditions remain undiscloseSadly, the violence claimed the lives of two 32-year-old men: Anthony Brown of Southeast, D.C. and Jay Lucks of Baltimore, Maryland. Both men succumbed to their injuries at the scene before medical assistance could reach them.

    The search for answers continues as authorities pursue leads in apprehending the perpetrator(s) responsible for this heinous act. Despite efforts to track down the suspect, described as a male seen fleeing on foot and last spotted in the 700 block of P Street Northwest, wearing light pants and a blue shirt, law enforcement authorities have yet to make an arrest.

    Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll addressed the media during a press conference, expressing the initial findings of the investigation. "The initial information that we have at this time is that seven people were shot at this location, two of which have since been pronounced deceased," Carroll stated, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

    The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. The Metropolitan Police Department can be reached at 202-727-9099, with a reward of up to $50,000 offered for relevant information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
