Mom Shares The Heart-Wrenching Story Of Losing Her Son To Help Save Others From Overdose

A mom on social media is sharing the tragic story of her son’s passing in order to teach other people about overdose prevention. After speaking on this topic at a school, the grieving mom posted her speech on TikTok to reach a wider audience. She recalled that, when her son took the fentanyl that ended his life, he was in his own bedroom in his family’s home. He’d received the pill from a trusted friend who had no way of knowing it would kill him.

“Before this happened to our family, I didn’t think it could happen to us,” the mom said in her talk.

She explained that everyone in the house had been asleep when her son passed away in the middle of the night. It wasn’t until morning, when she noticed he hadn’t gone to work, that she knew something was wrong. Although she called an ambulance immediately, it was already too late. She couldn’t save her son. That’s why she’s become such a staunch advocate for overdose prevention.

At the end of her speech, the woman held up a box of medication which commenters identified as Narcan . This nasal spray can actually reverse an opioid overdose, and it’s easy to administer. After losing her son, this mom keeps the life-saving drug on-hand at all times.
