    ALL-COUNTY: Eleven names earn honors after 2023-24 season

    The 2023-24 season has come to a close for girls’ basketball in Monroe County.

    The Lady Bears returned to the region semifinals this season while Sequoyah, Sweetwater and Tellico Plains combined for 29 wins on the season.

    Making an impact as a freshman, Lilly Woodruff led the county with 401 points scored and a staggering 276 rebounds. The Sweetwater Lady Wildcat averaged a double-double on the season and recorded one in 15 of her 24 performances, earning the All-County Player of the Year honor.

    Woodruff averaged 16.7 points per game and 11.5 rebounds a night. She shot 34% from the floor with 22 assists. Working hard on both sides of the ball, Woodruff added 188 defensive rebounds, 33 steals and 10 blocks.

    Leading the Lady Bears in her third season, Brooke Evans’ team returned to the Region 2-2A semifinals while winning 19 games. Tellico Plains swept the county and finished fourth in District 3-2A.

    The Lady Bears outscored their opponents by 168 points, averaging 49.6 points per game and allowing 44.

    Leading the Lady Bears with 302 points, Kate Hicks was a key for Tellico’s success. The junior averaged 10.4 points per game with 163 total rebounds and 44 steals. She also tallied 39 assists and 31 deflections.

    Hicks shot 43% from the floor with an average of 10.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game.

    Brooklyn Gibby finished her season well over the century mark on points scored and rebounds. Averaging 7.9 points per game and five rebounds per game, Gibby totaled 189 points and 121 rebounds on the season.

    She also added 10 assists and eight blocks to her 14 steals.

    It did not take long for Delilah Reed to make an impact. The Tellico freshman finished her rookie year with 250 points and 119 rebounds. Heavily involved for her team, Reed added 27 assists, 58 steals and 57 deflections.

    Reed averaged 8.3 points per game while shooting 45% from the floor. She knocked down nearly 100 field goals in the season — 14 of those as triples.

    Haley Carroll delivered her senior season. The Lady Chief ended the season averaging 9.1 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game. She also added nearly two assists a night.

    The Bryan College signee shot 76.2% at the line, 29.5% from the floor and 30.5% for three.

    Continuing on a strong rookie season, Jonna Moses continued to stand out as a sophomore. She scored 216 points and 73 rebounds for Tellico.

    But a convincing 121 assists tells her story as a player. Moses also added 67 steals and 51 deflections.

    She averaged four assists a game and 7.7 points per night. Moses shot 27% from the floor on the year.

    Taylor Rose factored heavily into Tellico Plains basketball through her junior season. She finished with 73 rebounds and 238 points scored. Rose also added 30-plus in assists, steals and deflections.

    Rose shot 41% from the floor with 23 triples knocked down and an average eight points per game.

    Hitting the century mark on points scored and totaling 98 rebounds, Kylie Baylog was impactful for Sweetwater basketball. The sophomore also added 53 deflections, 44 assists and 25 steals.

    Baylog added 4.5 points per game, shot 31% from the floor and notched 4.5 rebounds per night.

    Haley Cooper had a solid senior year. The Tellico Plains Lady Bear finished with 191 points and 105 rebounds. Cooper added 52 steals and 24 assists to go with her 115 deflections.

    Cooper averaged six points per game, hit 45 3-pointers and tallied 3.5 rebounds per night.

    With 139 points scored and 62 rebounds, Kendall Tyler factored into Sweetwater well. The sophomore shot 35% from the floor, averaged 5.8 points per game and hit 19 3-pointers.

    Tyler added 10 assists and 12 steals on the year while shooting 65% from the line.
