Volunteers in 2023 removed more than 14,000 pounds of litter and debris during the Great American Cleanup. This year’s event takes place Saturday, March 30.

On Saturday, March 30, people in Lee County will join volunteers across the country in the Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup. The event is also known as the “Trash Bash.”

Keep Lee County Beautiful has hosted the local event for more than 25 years.

Volunteers will clean waterways, shorelines, roadways and parks at locations throughout Lee County.

The organization says it’s the largest one-day event to help protect the environment.

Last year the Great American Cleanup removed more than14,000 pounds of litter and debris.

The Great American Cleanup is open to volunteers of all ages and any individual, family, school, group, place of worship, business or government entity can coordinate or participate.
