    Marinette tracksters pull double duty on Tuesday

    OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Marinette High School track team was in action at multiple events on Tuesday.

    The bulk of the squad competed at Bay Port Tri, while six athletes traveled to the UW Oshkosh High School Girls Varsity Invitational.

    In Oshkosh, Lauren Sadowski competed in three events, tying for 14th in the pole vault with a mark of 7’0, and placing 29th in the 800m with a time of 3:00.39.

    Sadowski also competed alongside Keirsten Kabacinski, Daisy Mercer and Kyle Vergara to post a 4x200m relay time of 2:07.09 that was good for 19th.

    Two athletes competed in the 1600m. Addison Lacy placed 18th at 6:17.26 while Madison Kunick was 25th at 6:31.35.

    Kabacinski, Vergara and Mercer all competed in the 60m dash. They placed 52nd (9.44), 55th (9.66) and 57th (9.74) respectively.

    At Bay Port, Marinette finished third to Bay Port and De Pere in both the boys and girls competitions. The Marine boys posted 35.5 points while the girls recorded 15 points.

    The Marinette boys notched three event wins and numerous top-ten finishes.

    Jackson Draheim came away a winner in the 400m run, improving his personal record to 58.27 seconds. Caden Genrich won the shot put with a PR toss of 45’10, and the team of Braxton Polzin, Mason Floriano, Max Jacobson and Elijah Wimbush carried the baton 240m in 2:13.83 to win by just under a second.

    Wimbush and Mason Hofherr posted top-ten finishes in the 55m dash. Wimbush was eighth at 7.22 seconds while Hofherr was ninth at 7.27.

    Kaiden Brown (26.24) and Luke Adams (26.43) finished second and third in the 200m dash.

    Hunter Schneider was sixth in the 400m at 1:00.81 while Floriano (1:02.85) and Brady Menor (1:03.52) were eighth and tenth.

    Nicholas Hruska placed eighth with an 800m time of 2:35.73.

    Evan Reines and Aidan Anderson both PR’d in the 1600m, finishing seventh and eighth at 6:12.60 and 6:19.95.

    Ashtyn Patenaude and Connor Whisler did the same in the 55m hurdles, placing third and fourth at 10.30 and 10.40 respectively.

    In the relays, Marinette placed second in the 4x800m (10:01.72) and third in the 4x160m (1:23.07) and 4x400m (4:13.24).

    Patenaude placed fifth in the high jump with a bound of 5’2, while Wimbush and Polzin were third and fourth in the long jump with leaps of 18’4.75 and 17’2.75.

    Draheim was the runner-up in the pole vault at 11’0, and Luke Adams placed eighth in the triple jump at 33’5.5.

    Freshman Anna Marzahl paced the Marine girls scoring effort with a win in the high jump (4’4) and runner-up finishes in both the 800m (2:54.53) and the 1600m (6:28.48).

    Bailey Krouth was sixth in the 400m at 1:14.20, while Hazel Knutson was third in the 55m hurdles at 12.73. The same duo placed sixth and tenth in the long jump with Krouth soaring 13’7.75 and Knutson posting a mark of 12’7.5.

    Three Marines were among the top-ten in the shot put. Jaydn Sherwood was fourth at 27’5. Natalie Poquette was seventh at 26’8, and Haley Shehow was tenth at 24’4.

    The Marines will compete at the West De Pere High School Indoor Invitational on Thursday.
