Chequamegon, Phillips and Butternut High School athletes competed among seven teams at the T-Bird Indoor Invitational on March 23 at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua. There were strong performances by all three teams.

Phillips coach Erik Olson said the results are especially impressive as kids competed well in key events where the athletes who typically score a lot of points were not present due to illness and vacations.

“Many other Phillips athletes stepped up and filled those vacancies very well,” Olson said. “It is a tribute to their hard work and dedication that we were able to place high in many events as well as in team scores.”

Chequamegon coach Mary Patterson also said the team had lower numbers of boys and girls competing Saturday, but it also didn’t stop them from competing at a high level.

“We had many personal records and improvements throughout the team,” she said.
