Late Night Shooting in Panama City Beach

It's a story that despite the relative safety of our community does sadly still happen to occur even here near the pristine white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. A person was injured in a shooting incident early this morning. Some blame tourists for bringing their problems with them. Some blame lack of police presence during a crowded tourist season. Some blame leadership. Some just blame the individuals who are directly involved. Whatever the root cause, local residents are left to deal with the aftermath of events like the one that happened this morning.

One person was shot in an incident that happened overnight Wednesday night/ early Thursday morning. According to the Bay County Sheriff's office, deputies responded to a call for a shooting at 3:04am Thursday on the far east end of Panama City Beach in unincorporated Bay County. The incident occurred at a private residence located at 8407 Thomas dr. Upon arrival deputies found one person who had been shot. Five other people were detained by Bay County Sheriffs Office for questioning. According to the sheriffs office, this appears to be an isolated incident with no danger to the general public.

8407 Thomas dr. is a development that consists of multiple townhomes . No word has been released as to who the involved individuals were, whether they were local residents or tourists, what the exact circumstances were that culminated in violence, or the condition of the gunshot victim.
