"Parish": New Orleans Crime Drama Premieres on AMC

"Parish", a new six-episode crime drama premiered on AMC on Sunday night. The series, which stars Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) was set and shot in and around New Orleans. The shows also stars Skeet Ulrich, Ivan Mbakop, Bonnie Mbuli, Zackary Momo and Bradley Whitford. First episode is now available on AMC and AMC+, with new episodes airing on Sundays at 8 pm.

Esposito stars as Gracián "Gray" Parish, a good man with a troubled past, has given up his life of crime to be a family man. However, when his son is violently murdered, old habits return, sending Parish on a relentless quest with moral intentions and dangerous consequences.

Parish was written by Danny Brocklehurst. Principal photography began on Parish in the spring of 2022 and wrapped by November. Notable landmarks and neighborhoods that can be spotted in the show are the Garden District, Long-Allen Bridge and former Cavan Restaurant on Harrison Avenue.

Esposito explained to Deadline back in February about how the show being set in New Orleans helps tell the story.

It’s a city that has a majority of churches, more than any other city in America. It’s a city with bars on every corner, where you can party until 4 in the morning. It seems like a place where you have to make a choice, and our show’s a lot about the choices that Gracian Parish makes, whether they be good choices or bad choices and how they affect his family. It was so much about the family and community, not only the city, but also of two different men and their families and how they tend to deal with the circumstances surrounding them. This was a city that was the right one.
