Lady Bunny: April Fool - NYC's Drag Icon Returns with Raunchy Parodies & Political Zingers!

Lady Bunny is an internationally beloved drag icon and comic genius who has been featured in numerous films and television shows. Most recently, she was in Wig, the HBO Wigstock documentary made with Neil Patrick Harris, and the comedy film, Hurricane Bianca: From Russia with Hate.

Bunny, as she affectionately referred to by fans, was the “Dean of Drag” on three seasons of RuPaul’s Drag U and she emceeded the LGBT prom in one of the most popular episodes of Sex and the City. She has been roasted by Joan Rivers and dished the roast treatment herself to Pam Anderson on The Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson.

A Manhattan gal since the early 80s, the comedian spent the past winter performing shows in California, where audiences have cheered her new material, including her self-penned dance track about Ozempic. This month, Lady Bunny returns to the Big Apple with a new, seasonal set list of her trademark raunchy song parodies and one-liners.

The show is called Lady Bunny: April Fool and will play four performance at Green Room 42 on April 12, 14, 17, 24. In it, Lady Bunny skewers celebrities from Todrick Hall to Drag Race queens. She draws inspiration from Beyonce's Cowboy Carter album, presenting an original country song she wrote about love on a farm and performing reinterpreted versions of downhome country ditties made popular by Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Bobbie Gentry, Gretchen Wilson and Shania Twain.

For fans of Bunny’s trademark Laugh-In joke routines, she has all new zingers that target Wendy Williams and Caitlyn Jenner, among others. She gets political, too. In one bit, Lady Bunny announces how “Joe Biden has a new VP pick who will spruce up his image and make him look younger: Dianne Feinstein!” She later muses how “You really have to give Trump credit—because he's completely out of cash!​”

And then there’s the fashion. “I'll be wearing several stunning new gowns," Lady Bunny confirms. However, true fans know they can expect that Lady Bunny will be wearing a loud, tacky floral print muumuu to match the show’s springtime theme.

"Last year, I broke my toe and had to perform in one of those awful boots,” Bunny recalls. “This year, I guess I'll have to come up with another excuse for not being able to dance.”
