Former Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick wants an "unreasonable" contract worth over $20 million per season, according to 94WIP's Howard Eskin.

"And I like Haason Reddick and I think he's a really good player and he's a good guy," Eskin told Hugh Douglas and Joe Giglio on Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show. "But he wanted a contract that was just unreasonable for the Eagles to give him. It was well, well, over $20 million. And all those people say, 'Well, just give him a few million more.' That's the most asinine, ridiculous statement I've ever heard. You do it with him then you've got to do it with everybody, that's not the way it works.

"Also, with [new defensive coordinator] Vic Fangio, that defense is going to be different," Eskin continued discussing why the Eagles traded Reddick. "Are they likely to play more 3-4? Is Haason Reddick the right person to have in that 3-4? The second thing, and I heard from somebody connected with the Eagles, that he wasn't very good against the run.

The Eagles traded Reddick to the New York Jets on Friday for a 2026 third-round that could become a second-round pick (if he plays 67.5-percent of snaps and record 10-plus sacks).

Reddick, 29, is entering the final year of his contract, a three-year, $45 million deal he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in March of 2022, and is set to enter 2024 with no guaranteed money. H e reportedly does not have a new deal with the Jets , whom will receive a compensatory pick if he leaves for free-agency after the season.

Mike Garafolo reports the Jets will take on Reddick's $14.5 million contract for 2024 and the Eagles will pay his $1 million roster bonus. The Jets and Reddick are reportedly working on a new deal.

Reddick's $45 million total contract value is currently 24th most among all NFL edge rushers and his average annual value of $15 million per season is currently 22nd, per spotrac.com .

Reddick was 15th in the NFL in sacks last season with 11.0, tied for 2nd in 2022 with 16.0, and tied for 11th in 2021 as a Carolina Panther with 11.0.
