March Women’s Leadership Spotlight: Patty Evers

CHAPEL HILL-The Blue Cross of NC in conjunction with the NCHSAA have recognized East Bladen’s women head basketball coach and athletic director Patty Evers as this month’s Women’s Leadership Spotlight. Coach Evers helped coach the 12th-seeded Lady Eagles to the 1A Eastern Regional Finals after defeating a gauntlet of top opponents, including the number-one seeded Falls Lake Firebirds.

East Bladen went on the road to defeat the number five, four, and one seed in the Eastern Region before facing East Columbus in Winston-Salem. The Lady Eagles averaged 69 ppg during their playoff run and they were equally impressive on the defensive side to hold their opponents to 58.4 ppg in their five postseason games played.

Despite the Lady Eagles falling short in the Regional final, they finished their season with a 25-5 overall record. Coach Evers and the Lady Eagles have been successful over the last 18 years as they’ve won 20+ games on 15 different occasions.
