Old Lycoming, Pa. — A man who led police on a high-speed chase through Old Lycoming Township apologized to police after he was discovered inside a home.

Kyle Alexander Grugan, 20, accelerated away from police in a sliver Chevy Cobalt just after 10 p.m. when they attempted to stop him near Mahaffey Lane and Green Avenue, Officer Dalton Lovell said. Grugan ran a stop sign at Princeton Avenue and Mill Lane and continued to flee from law enforcement, Lovell added. The vehicle’s emission and inspection stickers were expired.

According to Lovell, who ultimately located Grugan inside a home near the 2700 block of Grand Street, the following took place on April 4 in Old Lycoming Township:

Lovell initiated pursuit of the vehicle, which "disregarded all traffic laws and failed to drive in a safe manner," according to the affidavit. Lovell began keeping track of numerous violations by Grugan during the pursuit. Grugan traveled into the oncoming lane, drove above the speed limit, and passed cars on the wrong side of the yellow lines.

At one point during the chase, Grugan turned onto a dead-end road. He turned the vehicle around and allegedly attempted to ram Lovell's cruiser to escape.

Law enforcement eventually lost track of the vehicle, which was traveling without head lights on throughout the chase. Police then located the vehicle, which was empty and parked in the 2700 block of Grand Street. Officers found a nearby home with a surveillance camera.

A man wearing a tan coat, a dark colored hat and jeans, and black and white sneakers running into the home on Grand Street could be seen on the video.

Police searched the name of the registered owner of the silver Cobalt and learned she was dating Grugan. A search warrant was served at the home and Grugan was located inside.

Grugan said, “I am sorry officers. Can I please talk with you?”

Grugan was interviewed by police in the backseat of a cruiser. Grugan was read his Miranda Rights, according to Lovell.

Grugan admitted to being the driver of the Cobalt and told police he was “scared and wanted to get back to his daughter" and repeatedly apologized to officers for his actions, said Lovell.

Grugan is being charged with fleeing or attempting to elude officers, recklessly endangering another person, and six summary traffic offenses. Judge William Solomon set bail at $75,000 monetary for Grugan during an early morning arraignment.
