Today is the 15 th year for the Pike County Salvation Army’s Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon.

The “soup kitchen” will open at 11 and close at 2 p.m. Admission is $20 and will include soups for every taste. However, Donna Kidd, local Salvation Army director, said one bowl of homemade soup is never enough.

“So, go back again and again,” Kidd said.

The Empty Bowls Luncheon, dine in or take out, will also include desert and beverage and the enjoyment of family and friends.

Entertainment will feature the picking and singing of Ed Whatley and pottery making and story sharing by Greg Amann.

There will be friendly bidding on a variety of items including handmade wood bowls by Brundidge Municipal Judge Don Dickert and a framed drawing of Alabama Football Coach Nick Saban by Amanda “Kitty” Smothers. The bidding will end at 2 p.m.
