    Dance Alive and Pofahls Studios announce 4 special summer programs

    GAINESVILLE, Fla – Dance Alive National Ballet (DANB) and its resident school Pofahl Studios announce special summer programs for those who love to dance.

    Summer workshop , June 10 through July 13

    Five weeks of classes for the student who wants to continue training or those who want to explore a different art form. Classes in pre-ballet, classical ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, acrobatics, and tap/jazz for beginners through advanced students – pre-ballet through advanced work.

    Adult open classes available. Taught by DANB & Pofahl faculty.  Held at Pofahl Studios.

    Summer intensives, July 15-19 and July 22-26 – take one week or both

    SUMMER INTENSIVE LEVEL 1, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

    For intermediate students, pre-pointe level 4/5 ballet (Level 1). Technique and choreography in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and modern.

    SUMMER INTENSIVES LEVEL 2 & 3, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

    For intermediate (pointe 1 and up) through advanced students (Level 2 & 3). Technique classes in classical ballet, contemporary, pointe, and modern in the morning. Choreography by master teachers in the afternoon.

    Intensives include lunch and performances each Friday. Guest speakers for levels 2 & 3 in injury prevention, dance history, nutrition, Pilates, stretching, stress reduction, and careers in dance, among others.

    Faculty for July 15-19, Levels 2 & 3

    • Classical Ballet: Sterling Baca. Principal dancer Philadelphia Ballet . Dances principal roles in classical and contemporary works. Trained Academy of Colorado Ballet and ABT on scholarship.  Joined ABT and soon danced principal roles. Faculty member School of Philadelphia Ballet.
    • Contemporary, Modern: Alyssa Taylor. Former member Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Larrwell Productions. Highly respected commercial artist performing throughout Latin and Central America and Canada. Master teacher and choreographer with students accepted into major companies .

    Faculty for July 22-26, Levels 2 & 3

    • Classical Ballet: Gerard Ebitz. Former member NYCB, Miami City Ballet, Zurich Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet. Noted choreographer. Teacher/consultant for NYC Ballet. Master teacher and choreographer in neo-classical style.
    • Modern: Michelle Zada. BFA Ohio State. Member Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre. Master teacher – Youth America Grand Prix/ Black College Dance Exchange. Mentor National Young Arts Foundation & US Presidential Scholar Program.

    Faculty for July 15-26, Level 1

    • Contemporary: Alison Tucker. Trained in ballet, contemporary, and jazz. Joined DANB as a soloist in 2022 performing key roles in Carmina Burana, Swan Lake, Requiem, At First Sight, and Nutcracker. Conducts DanceAbout classes for DANB in Alachua and Marion counties.
    • Classical Ballet: Rachel Ridley. Principal dancer DANB. Toured regionally, performing lead roles in numerous productions such as Nutcracker, Carmina Burana, Lady Bug: Action Hero, and Swan Lake. Co-Director Next Generation.
