The need at this position comes down to this question—how do the Eagles feel about Jordan Davis?

If they view him as a three-down starter next to Jalen Carter, then the need at DT isn't that high. If they don't, and have questions about his ability to be an impact player, then the need is near the top for the Eagles. There are some good pass-rushing DTs in this draft. The Eagles taking one to replace Fletcher Cox and pair with Jalen Carter shouldn't be ruled out. Depth at DT is also needed.

2024 Eagles NFL Draft Preview: Edge Rusher

Byron Murphy II, Texas: Super quick off the line of scrimmage. What is impressive is that he wins with technique and pass-rush moves, which should translate to NFL. 8 sacks and 36 QB hurries last year. Good against run. Undersized but strong.

Jer’Zhan Newton, Illinois: Very strong and fast. Great athlete that won with both his athleticism and his pass-rush moves. Great first step. 7.5 sacks, 28 hurries last season. Only 21-years old.

Braden Fiske, Florida State: Quick first step. Light for a DT with short arms. Needs to add pass rush moves. 14 sacks the last two years. Decent against run.

Ruke Orhorhoro, Clemson: Tweener. Has played EDGE and DT. Versatile along the DL and could line up at every spot if needed. Good against run. Not many pass rush moves.

Kris Jenkins, Michigan: One of the strongest players in the draft. Great/elite against the run. Not good as a pass rusher. Seems too similar to Jordan Davis.

Maason Smith, LSU: 6-6. Great length for a DT. Tore ACL in 2022, only 500 snaps in 2023. Very raw. Not a quick first step but a unique, raw athlete for DT.

T’Vondre Sweat, Texas: Old (23 during rookie season) but has unique size at 6-4/362. Big body that has quick hands and learning pass rush moves. Josh Sweat's brother.

Michael Hall Jr., Ohio State: Small at 6-2, 280 pounds but can rush the passer. Very quick first step and speed overall.

DeWayne Carter, Duke: 3-time captain but only an average player — average size, average athlete that wins with technique. Good football IQ.

Leonard Taylor, Miami: Great athlete, great speed but not a ton of technique and cant get off blocks. 32 QB hurries last two years. 5 sacks. Looks like LB.
