North Coast Student Loan Borrowers Workshop

Borrowers on the North Coast and in other rural areas often do not have the same access to support as Oregonians living in metro areas. This workshop is intended to provide up-to-date student loan information to these borrowers and offer in-person assistance and expert advice.

The workshop will also give borrowers information about an important upcoming April 30, 2024 deadline for loan forgiveness. To be eligible, borrowers must hold Direct Loans, and those with other types of federal loans must consolidate them by April 30 to receive forgiveness or credit toward forgiveness.

Lane Thompson is Oregon’s first statewide student loan ombuds, part of the Oregon Department of Financial Regulation. Lane will give a presentation on what borrowers need to know, followed by a Q&A portion.
