Cattlemens’ auction one for the books

When the last “sold to the highest bidder!” was called Saturday afternoon at the Pike County Cattlemen’s Equipment auction, the final sale marked yet another successful equipment auction.

Dick Barnette, Pike County Cattlemen president, said both the sellers and buyers were satisfied and the Cattlemen were, once again, pleased with the auction from beginning to end.

The items up for auction were slightly fewer that the 2023 Pike County Cattlemen’s Equipment Sale.

However, Barnette said that was anticipated because the 2023 auction was a record-breaker.

“We still have buyers who have not picked up their items so we won’t know the final total for the auction for a few days,” Barnette said.” But, it was good auction in the number of items for the auction and the buyers and sellers all seemed to be pleased.”

On behalf of the Pike County Cattlemen, Barnette expressed appreciation to all those who worked to make the 2024 Pike County Cattlemen Auction a great success.

To be successful in any venture, Barnette said it takes hard working people who believe in the venture and those who support its efforts.

“We appreciate the buyers and the sellers, the auctioneers and everyone who had a part of the success for the auction,” Barnette said. The auction supports the scholarship program of both the Cattlemen and Cattlemen and the upkeep and maintenance of Cattleman Park.

New members are always welcome for both organizations. Owning cattle is not a requirement …eating steak is.
