Despite the wintry storm this past weekend brought, it is already the second week of April and ski areas (and skiers) are beginning to think about spring and summer activities. While there will still be skiing across the Wasatch for the next month at least, closing days are looming and warmer weather is beginning to start the spring melting process.

As of Sunday, April 7, Powder Mountain, which recently announced a terrain expansion, is closed for the season. The resort is taking advantage of spring weather to immediately transition into construction around the ski area.

In an Instagram post on April 8th, Powder Mountain said: "Starting today, Monday, April 8th, Powder Mountain will be closed for skiing, snowboarding, and all other recreational activities. This closure is necessary to keep our guests safe as we begin construction starting immediately. As multiple terrain zones and parking lots will be occupied by equipment, vehicles, and materials, please respect all closures. Self-shuttling is prohibited at all times in Woody's World. Stay tuned for exact multi-use access throughout the summer, and please obey all signage and closures. We appreciate your understanding during this time."

Still want to ski? Many resorts across the Wasatch are still running chairs and offering a variety of spring activities such as pond skims and apres events. There's no shortage of fun spring skiing in Utah right now so don't miss it!
