    Rocky Mount netters fall to Jackets

    The Rocky Mount High School tennis team fell to 1-7 in the Big East 2A/3A Conference and 1-7 overall following a 7-2 loss to Roanoke Rapids on Tuesday.

    Noah Seale earned the Gryphons’ lone singles win when he got past Talan Harris 8-6.

    Seale also teamed with Juan Gavira for an 8-2 triumph over Ryland Yeatts and Jack Moore to give RM its other victory.

    In other singles matches, Gavira fell 8-6 to Avery Garner at No. 2; Jacob Thompson lost 8-1 to Yeatts at No. 3; Leonardo Pesqueda battled but fell 8-5 to Musa Gwanzura at No. 4; Jose Osorio was defeated by Moore 8-0 at No. 5 and Keith Little lost 8-1 at No. 6 to Dawson Gardner.

    Roanoke Rapids won the other two doubles matches as the No. 2 team of Joe Huss and James Price shut out Pesqueda and Jacobi Thompson 8-0 and the No. 3 duo of Jacob Allen and Jeremy Thompson survived Osorio and Little 8-7 (7-5).
