The first official teaser trailer for Todd Phillips ' sequel Joker: Folie à Deux has arrived, and it’s every bit the maniacal madness we thought it would be, and then some, with an added dose of music, and most importantly — LOVE.

Alongside Joaquin Pheonix , reprising his role and maudlin rendition of the Clown Prince of Crime, Lady Gaga makes her debut as Harley Quinn, serving equally as twisted vibes, if we do say so ourselves.

The dark and gritty clip shows Arthur Fleck, aka Phoenix’s Joker and Gaga’s Harley Quinn meeting in Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum, where Joker finds himself locked up at, at the conclusion of the first film.

As we all know how the story goes — the two end up falling madly, deeply, and dangerously in love.

“I’m nobody. I haven’t done anything with my life like you have,” Harley Quinn admiringly tells  Joker as she mimes shooting herself in the head.

After devising a plan to break out of their straight jackets to take on the world beyond their padded cells, the teaser goes on to show scenes of the two causing a raucous in streets of Gotham, frantically dancing around the city.

While the first film served as a moody origin story for the Joker, a reclusive, struggling stand-up comedian and part-time clown, little is known about the actual plot of the sequel other than that it's reportedly a jukebox musical. One things for sure, it seems in this cinematic adventure, Joker doesn’t seem so lonely, revitalizing his solo act into a duo with daddy’s little monster muse, Harley Quinn.

As a rendition of the 1965 Jackie DeShannon classic “"What the World Needs Now Is Love,” plays throughout, the Joker goes on to say, “I’ll tell you what’s changed — I’m not alone anymore — that’s what we should be talking about!”

The trailer ends with Harley at Arkham Asylum, visiting her once again locked up beloved. “I want to see the real you,” she tells him, as she draws a smile with red lipstick on the glass partition.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to  release on Friday, October 4, 2024. Check it out the teaser trailer below.
