California Creates the First Fast Food Council

As if the $20 per hour law was not bad enough for business owners in California, they now have to deal with a fast-food council. Some fast-food restaurants already have unions, which help workers with worker rights. So, what does a fast-food council do?

Thanks to California, they created the first Fast Food Council. Many more states who share California's economic ideas will join in creating the Fast Food Council for their state. According to the Fast Food Council website, here is their description:

"The Council will be a statewide council of California fast food workers, government appointees, and industry leaders that will help improve working conditions for the state's over half a million fast food workers."

It says the council will consist of fast food workers, government appointees, and industry leaders.

How will a government appointee with probably no experience working or running a fast food restaurant help create better working conditions for fast food workers?

A Fast Food Council sounds like another layer of bureaucracy business owners have to deal with.

Many people's first jobs were at fast-food restaurants. It was the start for many workers. It is now the first, middle, and last workplace for those who choose to stay as fast food workers.

But the only difference now is that since a fast food worker's income doesn't cover the cost of living expenses, many proponents of the wage increase want the restaurant owners to foot the bill.

To all restaurant owners living in the US: If you like added bureaucracy and increased overhead costs, move to California. You'll work well with the new Fast Food Council.

Will the Fast Food Council supersede the companies' union decisions for companies with employees represented by unions?
