Southbound Saw Mill River Parkway reopens as tree is removed from parkway

A downed tree blocking the southbound lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway in Hastings-on-Hudson for much of the early morning commute today.

County police say the tree came down at around 4:25 p.m. near Cliff Street.

The southbound lanes were closed at Lawrence Street, and police diverted traffic off the Route 9A/Saw Mill River Road.

A car could be seen under some of the branches, but it is unclear whether the tree fell on the car or the car drove into the debris. No injuries have been reported.

The northbound lanes were not affected.

All lanes were reopened just before 7 a.m.
