However, the chance of profits from expensive cocoa has increased the number of farmers who want to grow the crop in some nations. According to Bloomberg, “In the top two world producers, Ivory Coast and Ghana, cocoa farmers receive a price set by the government to ensure income predictability. But growers in Cameroon and Nigeria are free to sell to the highest bidder. The lives of millions of children are at risk because of extreme heat in East Africa and the Pacific. UNICEF reports that 243 million children face heat-related illness or death. Temperatures in the regions have been above 104 degrees F fairly often. At this level, heat stroke can badly damage the body, according to the CDC. Heat waves in the regions will almost certainly continue. Debora Comini, Director of UNICEF Regional Office for East Asia and Pacific commented, “Children are more vulnerable than adults to the effects of climate change, and excess heat is a potentially lethal threat to them.” Climatecrisis247 believes this is a problem without a solution, a challenge faced more and more often due to climate change. Stroke Deaths
More than 500,000 stroke deaths worldwide are due to climate change. This is the conclusion of a study published in the journal Neurology. The authors wrote: “In 2019, there were 521,031 stroke deaths linked to non-optimal temperatures.” They added, “Researchers found over three decades that non-optimal temperatures, those above or below temperatures associated with the lowest death rates, were increasingly linked to death and disability due to stroke.” Researchers examined 30 years of health records for more than 200 countries and territories. Climate Will Ruin The World Soon
UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell gave a speech titled “Two Years to Save the World.” In it, he commented, “You’ve heard me talk before about record shattering heat and massive damage to economies, and how there’s no room for half measures. Little has been done at the industrial level and by governments to reverse the effects of climate change, which means that the odds of future catastrophes grow.
