The Eagles have three locked-in guys at safety for 2024: C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown.

All have upside, but there are legit questions about all of them. So while the need at safety isn't at the top of the list it could be very soon if none have strong 2024 seasons. There are a few safeties in this class that have higher upside at the position than any of the Eagles current trio, but it seems unlikely they take one of those safeties early.

2024 Eagles NFL Draft Preview: Defensive Tackle

Jaden Hicks, Washington State: Might be the most complete safety in the draft. Good speed, skills for man coverage, comfortable playing deep and smart enough to jump passes/make up for average athleticism. Might be a better pure safety than any of the safeties the Eagles have on their roster right now.

Tyler Nubin, Minnesota: An elite first step and great football IQ has lead to 12 interceptions and 9 pass breakups the last three years. Great at blitzing. Not a man-coverage guy, but has the ideal skillset to be an impact deep safety

Calen Bullock, USC: Might be my favorite safety in the draft. Has the range, speed and instincts to be a single-high safety, but also the cornerback skills to play nickel. Does a great job breaking towards the ball and making plays on it. Great hands. Only 20. Not strong and bad against the run. Has 249 snaps in nickel/320 deep last year.

Kamren Kinchens, Miami: Played all over the field for Miami. 100+ snaps in slot/box/deep each of last three seasons. Seems good at lots of things, great at nothing. Decent athlete with good instincts that makes plays. 11 INTs the last two seasons.

Javon Bullard, Georgia: Is more of an in-the-box, man-coverage safety that could just be a nickel. Played nickel for two years before moving to safety. Tons of swag/toughness but not speed. Kind of a CJGJ clone.

Cole Bishop, Utah: Doesn't seem like a fit for the Eagles. Doesn't have the coverage skills to play nickel, but could be able to cover TEs. Not a good enough athlete to play single high safety. Good against the run and play downhill as a blitzer. Sounds more like a LB than a safety.

Tykee Smith, Georgia : Philly guy. Is more of a nickel/in-the-box safety than a safety that can line up deep. A player to get creative with than an every down, normal safety. Not a great athlete but decent in coverage vs. TEs.

Beau Brade, Maryland: Not a slot/coverage safety. A true safety that has spent time in the box and deep. Doesnt have top end speed. Might not be able to be single high in NFL. Good tackler.
