Steak blasts Cam Newton after former MVP criticizes Kirk Cousins: 'You can’t throw the ball worth a lick, you’re petty'

Atlanta native Cam Newton recently sat down with former NFL star Shannon Sharpe on his “Club Shay Shay” podcast as the two discussed a variety of things from his career to the Falcons singing of Kirk Cousins, which Newton made it clear that he believes was not a good move.

“But what the Falcons paid Kirk Cousins, they could have got Cam Newton, Justin Fields and Michael Vick for that price,” Newton told Sharpe as he expressed his thoughts on the veteran quarterback’s contract as egregious. Newton later added that Atlanta could have gotten “more talent” with the money spent on Cousins “and you was going to sell out,” Mercedes-Benz Stadium Newton added.

On Thursday, Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden shared their thoughts on Newton’s comments as they discussed on The Steakhouse and Shapiro did not hold back in stating that in his opinion, Newton’s comments were along the lines of “pettiness” and shows signs of jealousy toward the new Falcons quarterback.

Shapiro also admitted that his thoughts toward Newton were “bias” due to various negative interactions Newton has had that he is familiar with and Newton “was not the easiest guy to get along with,” Shapiro said.

As the Sharpe and Newton conversation continued, Newton also expressed that seeing Cousins get his deal while recovering from an Achilles injury was another reason he viewed the signing as a bad deal, in particularly due to the fact that when he was looking to make his return from a shoulder injury, most teams had concerns about signing him.

“The same question and the same concerns you had with me, obviously you done overlooked that,” Newton said, noting that his career resume outweighs that of Cousins and should have garnered more money and that he shouldn't be considered being bitter, he’s simply “exposing the truth.”

“You can’t throw the ball worth a lick, you’re petty,” Shapiro responded after hearing the comments.
