The G.I. Joe Classified Cobra Ferret vehicle hasn’t even hit wide release yet and already the repaint has been revealed! Suddenly and briefly available to Hasbro Pulse members this morning, the Tiger Paw should exclusively hit Target stores around October. The Tiger Force line is generally exclusive to the chain, and typically features repaints of mainline figures and vehicles in a tiger-striped color scheme. In the ’80s line, it was a simple way to get older molds back in circulation as ‘new” toys, and indeed, the original Ferret got a Tiger Paw repaint. But not for several years until after the original was off shelves.

The success of Tiger Force prompted more repaint sub-lines, like the enemy Python Patrol, Toys R Us exclusive Nightforce, and Slaughter’s Marauders. Since the 6-inch revival, Tiger Force and Python Patrol are Target exclusives, Nightforce has been for Walmart (and the Haslab Dragonfly bonus figures), and the renamed “Mad Marauders” are just figures so far.

    Wreck’s in Effect

Perhaps more interesting than the Tiger Paw is the figure that comes with it. Wreckage, in the original line, came only in a Tiger Force four-pack. While most Tiger Force figures were classic G.I. Joe characters in recolored outfits, Wreckage was an all-new character created by repainting Cobra’s demolition expert Firefly. The new Wreckage, likewise, is a repaint of Classified Firefly — the more classic-styled second release. He doesn’t come with a drone, but he does include a recolored version of the “Ninja Turtle” style helmet that came with Clutch and the Vamp vehicle. Both the helmet and extensive recoloring details help sell the illusion that it’s a totally new figure.

He does look kind of evil for a Joe, though. Then again, so does Snake Eyes.

Like the Cobra Ferret, the Tiger Paw “comes with 14 unassembled pieces, including handlebars, rear rail bar, winch detail, adjustable cannon, and 2 missiles accessories.” Wreckage includes “10 character-inspired accessory pieces including helmet, backpack, 2 landmines, remote detonator, knife, and weapon accessories.”
