O.J. Simpson Lawyer Alan Dershowitz Says He Would’ve Represented Victims Instead ‘If They Had Called Me First’

O.J. Simpson defense attorney Alan Dershowitz offered his “sincerest condolences” to the families of Simpson’s alleged victims on Thursday and said he would have represented them instead “if they called me first.”

During an appearance on Fox News’ Hannity following news of Simpson’s death, Dershowitz said, “I want to send my sincerest condolences to the Goldman family, the Brown family. They’ve done a phenomenal job in standing up for their relatives, and if they had called me first before the O.J. team called me, I probably would have represented the Goldman or the Brown family.”

Dershowitz – who has defended many detested public figures, including serial child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein – continued:

Lawyers defend people who need a defence and I am proud of the fact that I helped to expose some corruption amongst some police officers in the LAPD. I am proud that I helped to disclose some of the divisiveness of the country on racial issues, and I also helped to disclose the inadequacy of the prosecution.

He concluded, “I’m very sympathetic with the Goldmans and the Brown family and I wish I could have been on their side, but I wasn’t, and in the end I think history will remember O.J. Simpson as someone who possibly did it, but who the police tried to frame.”

Simpson was acquitted of murder in 1995, despite the mountain of evidence against him which indicated he killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, thanks in part due to the defense he received from his “Dream Team” of lawyers, which included Dershowitz, Robert Kardashian, Robert Shapiro, and Johnnie Cochran.

During his show on Thursday, NewsNation host and Mediaite founder Dan Abrams – who worked as a courtroom reporter during the Simpson trial – said the majority of Simpson’s defense team did not believe their client was innocent, with Cochran making it “clear” in private conversations that “he knew” Simpson had killed Brown and Goldman.
