The Stillwater synchronized swimming team passed its biggest early season test with a 20-9 East Metro Conference victory over rival Forest Lake in a figures meet on Tuesday, April 9 at Stillwater Middle School.

The Rangers placed third at the state meet a year ago and since 1989 they are the only team to defeat Stillwater (2-0 EMC, 2-0) in a dual meet. The Ponies, who have a 226-3-1 record during that time, were up to the task in this one while claiming five of the top seven spots.

Hailey Schmit (74.986) and Paige Schmit (73.352) finished first and second to lead the Ponies before Forest Lake countered with Grace Chatwin (73.027) and Hailey Johnson (67.626) in the third and fourth spots. The Rangers (1-1, 1-1) placed five individuals in the top 15.

Stillwater sealed the victory by occupying each of the next three scoring spots in fifth through seventh with Annie Gritters (67.621), Isana Downing (66.511) and Andelyn Filandrinos (66.078).
