    Rec League Notes: Rogersville hosting Family Dodgeball Day

    ROGERSVILLE — Rogersville Parks and Recreation Department will host Family Dodgeball Day on Saturday, April 27, at the Rogersville City Park tennis courts from 10 a.m. to noon.

    The event is free. Teams will be put together on site throughout the morning, so everyone is invited to bring family and friends out to participate. No advance registration is required.

    Small weight cardio class starts April 15

    ROGERSVILLE — Rogersville Parks and Recreation is teaming up with ACE-certified trainer Neal Ewing for a Moving-U Fitness small weight cardio class.

    The classes will meet on Monday nights from 6-7 p.m. from April 15 through June 3 at the Rogersville City Park stage. The fee, on site, is $5 per class. Bring two light hand weights (3-10 pounds) and a mat.

    Bays Mountain Park hosting Barre & Yoga on the Barge

    KINGSPORT — Bays Mountain Park is partnering with a local yoga instructor to offer residents a new type of yoga class, one that takes place in the morning on the park’s barge.

    The class is called Barre and Yoga on the Barge, and the one-hour session will take place on April 13 from 10-11 a.m. Inspired by elements of ballet, yoga and Pilates, barre is a workout technique designed to target major muscle groups via small movements. Please note: The barge leaves promptly at 10 a.m., so please be on board 10 minutes early.

    The cost is $8 per person; class size is limited to 14 people. Participants of all levels are welcome to attend. Wear exercise clothing and bring your own water bottle with a sealable lid. No mats are required.

    Register now for Eastman Rec youth leagues

    KINGSPORT — Eastman Recreation offers an instructional baseball and softball league for local children ages 5-17 to develop skills under the direction of some of the region’s best middle and high school coaches. Kids do not have to be children of Eastman employees to participate.

    Registration can be completed using TeamSnap.

    Evaluations will be held on May 11 and May 18 at Sullivan Heights Middle School. The season starts on May 28, with practices starting May 28-29. The tournament will take place July 1-3 and July 8-9 (no games on July 4-5). All games will be played at Brickyard Park in Kingsport.

    The cost for Eastman dependents is $30 each for the first two players and $10 each for additional players from the same household. For non-Eastman dependents, the cost is $35 each for the first two players and $10 each for additional players from the same household.

    Kingsport offering skateboarding lessons

    KINGSPORT — Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is offering intermediate and advanced skateboarding classes at the Scott Adams Memorial Skatepark (2016 Brickyard Park Drive).

    The classes take place every Monday through April 29 with intermediate from 6-7 p.m. and advanced from 7-8 p.m. In the classes, participants will learn the advanced moves and tricks of skateboarding in a friendly, safe environment. Participants are encouraged to bring their own skateboards, and parents are encouraged to remain onsite during the class. Water will be provided.

    The cost for the lessons is $30 for city residents and $35 for non-city residents. The lessons are open for boys and girls ages 6 to 12. The maximum number of registrants is 10.
