Everybody and your mother seem to love Terrion Arnold. Are they spreading lies or is there some truth behind it? That’s why you’re here so let’s talk turkey. Here is your 2024 NFL Draft Profile on Terrion Arnold.

I have to start here. The hype train is out of control. Arnold isn’t even the best corner on his own team ( That’s Kool-Aid man ). I’m not sure how we got here but the narrative of draft politics is a very powerful thing. This man got benched for Eli Ricks (who didn’t get drafted and struggled as a rookie with the Eagles). That player is somehow the undisputed number one corner in the class. I have no idea how that works but here we are.

I’m not going to sit here and say that Arnold stinks either. Last year he was really good for the most part. There are also reasons to believe in his development curve as we project these guys forward. In 2023, Arnold was named First-team Associated Press All-American and First-team All-SEC. He also had five interceptions and 12 pass break ups.

Here is the thing. I went over some of the numbers for McKinstry. Arnold was just picked on way more. Teams tell you on film what they think of Arnold. They target his side of the ball constantly because they don’t want nothing to do with the other guy. On the season, Arnold held throwers to 41/79 (51.9%) for 441 yards, two touchdowns. Again, performed well and mostly did his part. It just also helps that the field is tilted in his favor and you’re not taking on the top matchup.

The recruiting background on this one is tricky. Arnold was a five star recruit but as a safety. Not that he can’t play corner but recruiters projected him as a safety on par with like an Xavier McKinney type of player. The Tallahassee, Florida native ran a 4.50 at the Combine and isn’t a track runner. Maybe that lack of high end speed would play better as a McKinney type of player.

Is that going to hold up at the NFL level? Arnold is mostly an outside corner and will now be tasked with much harder assignments at the NFL level. Instead of covering two’s in college, he’s probably going to be asked to cover the top X player at the NFL level. Good luck.

Again, I don’t hate Arnold. All of his movement stuff at the Combine was solid. No question he has talent. I like his feet. Has some toughness. Think he has a feel for the ball. I just wonder how much of that intangible stuff is Nick Saban. Of course, Saban is the secondary guru. That’s the thing he knows the most. It’s like when corners leave Bill Belichick. They usually don’t get better after. The lone exception is Minkah Fitzpatrick but he wasn’t going to fail anywhere.

I like Terrion Arnold. Just not at this price. I think he’s a second / third round player who can fill a void as a capable starter for a team. I don’t see a blue chip superstar. Time will tell.
