    Patriot Invitational draws 18-team field

    BLUFF CITY — A competitive 18-team field hit the track at Sullivan East Middle School on Saturday, April 13, for the 2024 Patriot Invitational.

    Greeneville finished atop the boys’ team scores with 127 points to second-place Liberty Bell’s 80. In the girls’ team standings, Liberty Bell topped the field with 123.5 points to Indian Trail’s 81. RCS posted the highest local finish, coming in fifth in the boys’ standings and tied for sixth in the girls. The RCS boys were just three points out of third place.

    Here’s a look at top individual and relay performances by Hawkins County athletes:

    BOYS

    RCS’ Brayden Brown was second in the 400 (57.27) and second in the 800 (2:26.85).RCS’ 4x400 relay of Evan Laster, Baylor Hancock, Chance Pearson and Brayden Brown was second (4:12.59).RCS’ Evan Laster was third in the 110 hurdles (17.96).RCS’ Aaron Munsey-Cooke was third in shot put (36-05.25) and seventh in discus (89-08).RCS’ Chance Pearson and Shane Farmer tied for seventh in the 800 (2:36.55).RMS’ Landon Rimer tied for seventh in the high jump (4-10).RMS’ Justin Bradley was ninth in the 110 hurdles (20.43).RMS’ 4x200 relay team was eighth (1:57.91).The RMS 4x100 relay was 10th (56.43).

    GIRLS

    RCS’ Emma Stipes won the discus with a throw of 73-9 and was second in shot put (32-4.25).SMS’ Chloe Fritts was second in the 100 (13.62) and sixth in the 200 (29.36).SMS’ Azlee Keck was third in the 400 (1:13.30).SMS’ Kylee Davis was fourth in the 400 (1:18.28).The RCS 4x200 relay team was fourth (2:02.64).RCS’ Karlie Gray was fifth in the 100 (14.20).RCS’ Riley Newman was seventh in the 400 (1:27.79).The RCS 4x400 relay team was seventh (5:03.24).The RMS 4x400 relay was eighth (5:14.97).RCS’ Lilla Harrell was ninth in the 800 (2:50.40).RCS’ Elin Bryan was ninth in the 1600 (6:13.33) and 10th in the 800 (2:51.54).The RMS 4x100 relay was ninth (1:00.43).The RMS 4x200 relay was ninth (2:10.23).RMS’ Jessabella Allen was 10th in the 1600 (6:17.17).

    SULLIVAN EAST MEET 4

    BLUFF CITY — Sullivan East hosted athletes from throughout the region for its fourth meet of the season on Wednesday, April 10. It included athletes from Church Hill Middle and Rogersville City schools.

    In the boys’ team standings, RCS finished fourth and CHMS seventh in the 13-team field. In the girls’ team standings, RCS finished sixth and CHMS 11th in the 11-team field.

    Here’s a look at top individual and relay performances by Hawkins County athletes:

    BOYS

    CHMS’ Bryson Christian won the 100 with a time of 11.69 and won the 200 with a time of 23.86.RCS’ Evan Laster won the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.71 and was fifth in discus (88-1).RCS’ Brayden Brown was second in the 400 (58.20) and third in the 1600 (5:23.36).RCS’ Baylor Hancock was second in long jump (16-0).The RCS 4x400 relay of Evan Laster, Brayden Brown, Chance Pearson and Zander Harris was second (4:17.45).CHMS’ Jansen Arnold was fourth in the 400 (59.86) and fifth in the 200 (26.43).RCS’ Aaron Munsey-Cook was fourth in shot (36-3.5) and sixth in discus (86-4).RCS’ Zander Harris was fifth in the 800 (2:29.04).The RCS 4x200 relay was fifth (2:04.97).CHMS’ Conner Begley was sixth in the 400 (1:02.36).CHMS’ Gage Singleton was ninth in the shot put (30-2.5).CHMS’ Noah Hall was 10th in the long jump (14-11).RCS’ Chance Pearson was eighth in the 800 (2:37.36).

    GIRLS

    RCS’ Emma Stipes won the shot put with a throw of 34-3.5 and was second in discus (76-6).The RCS 4x400 relay of Rylee Sivert, Anna Mae Boyd, Lilla Harrell and Harlen Hayes won with a time of 4:51.84.CHMS’ Kylee Capson was second in the long jump (13-0).RCS’ Lilla Harrell was third in the 800 (2:51.71).The RCS 4x200 relay of Riley Newman, Harlen Hayes, Karlie Gray and Madison Miller was third (2:06.45).RCS’ Rylee Sivert was fifth in the 200 (29.29) and seventh in the 400 (1:08.36).RCS’ Karlie Gray was sixth in the 100 (13.89).RCS’ Anna Mae Boyd was eighth in the 200 (29.70).The CHMS 4x100 relay was eighth (1:00.12).The CHMS 4x400 relay was eighth (5:57.30).RCS’ Zoey Bowman was ninth in the 100 hurdles (20.37).CHMS’ Willow Ingram was 10th in the 200 (29.87).RCS’ Harlen Hayes was 10th in the 400 (1:11.32).RCS’ Elin Bryan was 10th in the 1600 (6:27.99).The RCS 4x100 relay was 10th (1:05.12).
