There are few beings in the DC Universe whom the bounty hunter Lobo respects. There are even fewer that he’d hesitate to fight. However, the second chapter of the House of Brainiac reveals that one of the event’s new villains may have managed both feats.

Superman #13 by Joshua Williamson and Rafa Sandoval continues the House of Brainiac storyline. The first chapter saw Metropolis attacked by Brainiac and an army of Czarnians. This perplexed Superman, as he believed that Lobo was the last of the Czarnians. The quest for answers led Superman to the Main Man, who was coincidentally stranded on Earth.

New Villain is Czarnian Legend and Lobo’s Idol

Lobo was surprisingly quick to agree to help Superman, noting just how angry the Man of Steel was in the wake of his family’s kidnapping. After watching some of the invasion footage, he agreed that the invaders were real Czarnians rather than clones made from his DNA. He also identified the leader of the Czarnian army as General Chacal.

According to Lobo, General Chacal was something of an urban legend on Czarnia. The leader of a gang known as the Bad Blood, General Chacal was powerful enough to take over a whole city and defend it against all the whole of Czarnia. Legend had it the city vanished mysteriously overnight. The Main Man had never believed in the legends, of course, but the idea that Brainiac stolen General Chacal’s city would explain the stories.

Despite not believing General Chacal was real, Lobo did idolize him as a young man. Such respect is rare from Lobo, who is free in dispensing insults to anyone who annoys him. However, it remains to be seen if the Main Man can overcome his feelings of admiration to dispense a righteous beating to the legendary villain who helped Brainiac kidnap the Superman Family.

Superman #13 is now available on-line and in comic shops everywhere .
